By now, y’all know how much I love repurposed jewelry, and sometimes, I even create my own. So when I stumbled across Creatively Obsessed Designs on Instagram, I was instantly smitten- gorgeous, one-of-a-kind jewelry from repurposed and upcycled vintage buttons. But not just any old buttons from your grandmother’s button box…
Seriously the most stunning buttons I’d ever seen!
I fell in love with about 10 necklaces all at once…and decided right then and there that I needed to find out more about the artist, Selena Braunstein, and her creations, so that I could tell everyone I knew about them! Prepare to be enchanted…

If you were on Twitter and had to describe Creatively Obsessed Designs in 140 characters, what would you say?
Handcrafted Jewelry and Accessories made with Vintage and Antique Buttons. “Wearable History” Specializing in Artfully Upcycled Treasures.
What was the catalyst behind creating Creatively Obsessed Designs? Is this something you’ve always envisioned yourself doing?
I have always been an upcycle artist. I worked in many mediums and take inspiration from anything old, unwanted and unused. I stumbled across some antique buttons and was blown away by the workmanship and detailing. I felt like I was holding a piece of art in my hand. A little canvas. At that moment I knew I had found my new passion!
I love the history and mystery of antique buttons- and from what I can tell, you do, too! Which time era produced your favorite buttons, or is it impossible to pick just one?
My favorite era, hands down, is the Victorian time period- this time period is circa 1880-1890. The Victorian era produced picture buttons, pierced metal, twinkle and many more. The picture buttons are my favorite because the detail is so amazing.
Ok, you don’t need to spill any trade secrets, but how do you source such AMAZING buttons?? It seems like you must travel the world to find them…
I do travel extensively and procure most of my buttons by attending auctions and from collectors.
Ok, let’s see some of your stunning pieces of all time- Show and Tell Time!
