For years and years, I lived near the coast in South Florida- both on the Atlantic side and the Gulf side. And even though I am now landlocked in the Appalachian foothills, I still enjoy the tranquility of coastal décor- whether it’s the white/aqua/tan color palette or the childhood beach memories it conjures up, there’s just something about it that’s breezy and relaxing. I mean, really, who knew décor could feel breezy?
I recently finished this beachy project as a result of a no-glass-recycling rule in my county…but I was hungry for more coastal goodness.
So with that in mind and the last weeks of summer in front of us, why not gather up some repurposed/upcycled coastal (and nautical) décor ideas from my fellow bloggers? This post may contain affiliate links for your crafting convenience.

This might be the easiest (and cutest) way to make yourself a sailboat!
A vintage fishing creel is on my “to-find” list, especially since it has so many decorative uses!
If I ever see a fish-shaped snack dish like this while thrifting, you can bet I’m going to snap it up and make my own beachy décor piece!
Abalone shells are just so gorgeous…and adding a touch of vintage rhinestone bling creates a magical dressing table bowl.
A vertical photo holder from a vintage water ski is a great way to fill a tall, narrow wall space!
I love the clustered look of this driftwood wreath with its sandy-colored ribbon– can you hear the waves crashing?
I just love the stenciled corals on this vintage accent table…
The story behind this salvaged wood barn door (from a barge!!) is INCREDIBLE! And let’s face it, it’s a work of art.
Create a nautical gallery wall with framed vintage signal flags.
Catch a wave and sit a spell on this repurposed surf board bench seat!
How about storing your beach and pool towels using driftwood??
Who would have thought that an old oar would make a quirky and useful handrail!
DIYing your own seaglass bottles is easier than you think- I should know!
Fishing poles as curtain rods…now that’s something I’ve never seen before and wouldn’t have thought of in a million years.
Ha! I love using this old boat prop as a candleholder!
So, I think I need some beach pottery (!!!!) to make one of these coastal wall clocks…
These painted scallop shell trinket boxes might be prettier than the jewelry I’d place in them.
Oh my gosh- stair “spindles” from dock cleats and rope– this takes nautical style to an entirely new level!
It’s already round and ready to be repurposed- a life saver wreath.
Need a wine cabinet in a “pinch”? Use a salvaged lobster trap!

Do you feel inspired to add a little surf, sand, and waves to your home now? And which one is your favorite?? All I can tell you is maybe we’ll be taking a trip to a beach cottage sooner than I thought.
Craft on!
